STEAM is situated in the heart of what was once one of the largest railway engineering complexes in the world. The museum tells the story of the men and women who built, operated and travelled on the Great Western Railway.

The story is brought to light with videos mixing rare archive film footage with the stories of ex railway workers, hands on exhibits, interactive displays, famous locomotives and memorabilia, giving visitors a real sense of life experienced in time gone by.

STEAM is open every day from 10.00am to 5.00pm, except 24, 25 and 26 December and 1 January.
